Coming in July: workshop where families can talk about end-of-life
We are developing a workshop where families will hear information that will help them have end-of-life discussions. When someone is ill or elderly, or who just wants to be prepared, talking about death can be impossible. To make it easier for families to talk about this together and experience whatever happens together, we're organizing attorneys who specialize in elder law, a panel from El Paso Hospice, and the Institute's Clinical Director, Elizabeth Robles, LPC. These sessions will begin in July and the entire workshop will be in two parts. Total cost will be $40 and payments can be made at each session ($20 per session). Participants will receive a binder with sample documents from the American Bar Association and the Texas State Department of Health & Human Services. We'll also provide some helpful checklists to help families track important information. We plan to rely on some of the work of "The Conversation Project." El Paso knows us as Mano y Corazon. Since 2012, we have been creating innovative education sessions where dynamic interactions take place and where solutions are shared. We recently incorporated as MYC Institute of Integrative Health. In about a week, we will submit our paperwork to become a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization.
We will continue to serve as a source of Culturally-Competent Health Education for El Paso. We are committed to integrating behavioral health into every education session because, without it, recovery is delayed and wellbeing is not complete. Simply, we believe in bodymind health.
As we take these next steps of formalizing MYC Institute, we'd like to thank El Paso for its support. We're grateful for our sponsors and so many partners who have worked with us since our formation. Stay tuned. We are working on some excellent and transformative initiatives.
